Head Coach – Jason Carpenter

Jason is a 1996 graduate from Selinsgrove High School. He began wrestling in third grade. Jason worked through the elementary and junior high wrestling programs at Selinsgrove and eventually high school wrestling at the 275 weight class. Under the instruction of Todd Myers and George Hummel, Jason achieved the status of district champion in 1995 and 1996 and many other tournaments throughout his junior and senior years. From high school he went on to Clarion University where he played football. Jason later transferred to Lock Haven University and graduated in 2000 with a BA in Sociology. He, then, became a PIAA wrestling official for six years. Jason says “I want to take what I’ve learned from wrestling and teach kids the discipline it takes to become a quality wrestler.”


Assistant Coach – Nathan Bingaman

Nathan graduated from Selinsgrove in 2015 where he has wrestled since kindergarten. In high school he was a district champion his junior and senior year. He qualified for states his senior year by winning regionals as well. After high school, he attended Susquehanna University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biology. While attending Susquehanna, Nathan contributed to the sport by volunteering his time to help the high school wrestling team. He is looking forward to coaching the junior high team this year.


Assistant Coach – Mark Peirmattei

Mark wrestled for Line Mountain before moving his senior year and graduating from Middleburg High School in 2001.  He was a 3-time sectional champion, AA-District 4 champion, Northeast Regional champion, as well as a 3-time PIAA state medalist.   He holds the most career wins by a Middleburg wrestler with 127.   He has been involved in wrestling almost all of his life and has helped out with the elementary program in Selinsgrove the past few years.  He was the assistant high school wrestling coach at Mifflinburg for six seasons where he taught special education for 10 years.  He attended and wrestled Division 1 at Bloomsburg University.  Now employed at Selinsgrove HS, Mark plans to continue to volunteer and help with the future growth of the Selinsgrove program.


Assistant Coach – Jerry Bastian

Coach Jerry Bastian has been a Seals wrestling coach for the past 11 seasons. He served previously for 7 years as the head coach for the K-6 level. He has previous coaching experience as an assistant at Milton Area High School. During his time at the elementary level the Seals program grew into a highly successful one that has finished well in the Susquehanna Valley Elementary Wrestling League events for many years. Seals wrestlers have qualified for and placed in the PJW State Tournament as well as the MAWA Eastern National tournament. They have also achieved success in several other high caliber tournaments.

Coach Bastian now coaches primarily at the junior high level as assistant coach and will starting his 6th year in that position. “Jerry” has two sons, Coy and Cale, who are wrestlers currently active in the program. He looks forward to watching a successful high school program continue for years to come.


Assistant Coach – Shuntil Snyder

Shuntil graduated from Selinsgrove in 2007 where she was a 3-year varsity starter at the 103 weight class. At the end of her senior year she was awarded Most Improved Wrestler. After high school, she attended The University Of the Cumberlands In Willamsburg, Kentucky for 2 years on a wrestling scholarship. She was a 2 years Starter on the Woman’s wrestling team. She qualified for the University national tournament both years, and helped bring home 2 National Team titles. She is excited to be back with the Selinsgrove wrestling program.
