Head Coach – Jason Carpenter

Jason is a 1996 graduate from Selinsgrove High School. He began wrestling in third grade. Jason worked through the elementary and junior high wrestling programs at Selinsgrove and eventually high school wrestling at the 275 weight class. Under the instruction of Todd Myers and George Hummel, Jason achieved the status of district champion in 1995 and 1996 and many other tournaments throughout his junior and senior years. From high school he went on to Clarion University where he played football. Jason later transferred to Lock Haven University and graduated in 2000 with a BA in Sociology. He, then, became a PIAA wrestling official for six years. Jason says “I want to take what I’ve learned from wrestling and teach kids the discipline it takes to become a quality wrestler.”



Assistant Coach – Roger Legg

Roger wrestled for Crestwood High School in Mountain Top, PA for four years until he graduated in 2012.  He was a 3-time Northeast Regional Qualifier, and an NHSCA All-American as well. Prior to coming to Selinsgrove, Roger was the head junior high wrestling coach for three years at Crestwood Junior High School while also coaching an additional five years as a volunteer wrestling coach at Lake-Lehman Junior High School, Danville Junior High School, and Crestwood Junior High School. Roger is currently going to assist Coach Carpenter on the Junior High School while also serving as the 2nd and 3rd grade guidance counselor for Selinsgrove Elementary and Intermediate Schools. Roger completed his undergraduate degree from Wilkes University where he played football for 2 years before focusing on coaching football and wrestling as he finished up his graduate degree from Bloomsburg University.

Bill was a four year starter for Selinsgrove’s legendary wrestling coach Dick Smoker. He continued his wrestling career at Susquehanna University where he again was a four year starter. He became the Crusaders first undefeated wrestler in dual meets. His dream was to return to Selinsgrove High School and give back to the program that gave him so much. The dream came true when he was hired to teach Environmental Science In the fall of 1971. Bill’s coaching career began as the assistant junior high coach that same year. The next year he was hired as the head junior high coach and stayed in that position for 9 years. He then moved up to the assistant varsity position and became the varsity coach when Coach Smoker became ill. He stayed in that position for 10 years. After taking 15 years off, he returned to the junior high where he is now an assistant coach. This is his 15th year in that position.
