Head Coach - Jerry Bastian

Coach Jerry Bastian has been a Seals elementary wrestling coach for the past seven seasons. He served previously as the head coach for the K-2 level for two seasons and has served as the head coach for the K-6 program for the last four. He has previous coaching experience as an assistant at Milton Area High School. During the past several seasons the Seals program grew into a highly successful one that has finished first or second in the Susquehanna Valley Elementary Wrestling League events for the past three seasons. Seals wrestlers have qualified for and placed in the PJW State Tournament as well as the MAWA Eastern National tournament. They have also achieved success in several other high caliber tournaments.

Coach Bastian enjoys coaching the Seals elementary wrestlers as well as coaching local youth in the Selinsgrove Area Youth Football League. He looks forward to continue to help build success for the program as the Seals junior high assistant. Coach “Jerry” has two sons, Coy and Cale, who are wrestlers and a wife, Joan, who is active in the program. He looks forward to watching a successful high school program in the future.


Volunteer Assistant Coach - Mark Piermattei

Mark wrestled for Line Mountain before moving his senior year and graduating from Middleburg High School in 2001.  He was a 3-time sectional champion, AA-District 4 champion, Northeast Regional champion, as well as a 3-time PIAA state medalist.   He holds the most career wins by a Middleburg wrestler with 127.   He has been involved in wrestling almost all of his life and has helped out with the elementary program in Selinsgrove the past two years.  This year he will coach the K-2 program at the elementary level.  He was the assistant high school wrestling coach at Mifflinburg for six seasons where he has taught special education for the past 10 years.  He attended and wrestled Division 1 at Bloomsburg University.  Recently employed at Selinsgrove HS, Mark now plans to volunteer and help with the future growth of the Selinsgrove program.
